Macro-N (nitrogen) deficiency
Nitrogen deficiency causes stunted growth, short plant height, narrow and vertical leaves, reduced tillering, and a smaller root system. In nitrogen deficiency, green rice leaves appear as small yellow spots, especially affecting older leaves first, with progressive yellowing from the tip and progressing to light brown or necrotic.
Kimat’s proposed solution:
Macro-P (phosphorus) deficiency
Phosphorus deficiency in rice shows a significant reduction in growth and tillering. Symptoms of phosphorus deficiency in leaves are seen as dark green, purple or brown coloration at the margins and tips of the leaves (due to anthocyanin accumulation). Severe deficiency causes reddish-brown or purple pigmentation in older leaves, which progresses to necrosis. Phosphorus deficiency also inhibits flowering and panicle development and prolongs the growth cycle.

Kimat’s proposed solution:
Macro-K (Potassium) deficiency
Potassium deficiency in rice appears as yellowish brown margins and dark brown necrotic spots that first appear on older leaves. In case of severe potassium deficiency in rice, we see reduced tillering, thin and short stems, general growth arrest, unfilled spikelets, reduced grain weight, and increased sterility.

Kimat’s proposed solution:
Secondary macronutrient deficiency – Mg (magnesium)
Magnesium deficiency in rice appears as orange-yellow interveinal chlorosis (yellowing between the veins) first on older leaves and progresses to younger leaves as the deficiency worsens. The structure of rice leaves with magnesium deficiency becomes wavy and drooping (alternating green and yellow stripes along the length). Magnesium deficiency has negative effects on plant growth, reduced tillering, and reduced root activity.
Kimat’s proposed solution:
Micronutrient deficiency – Zn (zinc)
Initial symptoms of zinc deficiency in rice appear 2 to 4 weeks after transplanting. Symptoms on young leaves include pale, whitish areas around the midrib and a white line along the midrib. As zinc deficiency progresses, brown spots and streaks on the lower leaves enlarge and turn bronze-brown.
